Abstract This paper investigates the frame resolution scalability of wavelet based passive matrix display addressing for mobile terminals. The wavelet-transform and the considered video codec architecture are both inherently resolution-scalable; hence providing resolutionscalable display driving is another mean to control the powercomplexity on a portable device. When the mobile terminal is running on low battery, the handheld device is able to display the received compressed data at the target resolution.
